the royal family sits in pose for this piece. a king ponders his move, as his queen receives advice from their most trusted council. scurry at their feet are their sacraficial underlings, though they ar enot forsaken for their status in the royal house. the knight stands waiting to protect his lord, and alone in the back stands the stolid, dark dwelling of the court...
obviously, you can tell what inspired this picture ^_^ in my logic class, we played a game of chess, and i had to draw the black/dark team... i dunno if i'll do the white/light team just yet, seeing how this is going to take me forever to color O.O!

The concept is great, and so creative too. The Dark side army; the pawns look like little demons, I'm not sure what that hooded figure is supposed to represent? Is he a chess piece too? And the court dwelling looks so spooky! I can't really give you any critique, as I see nothing wrong with it.

the hooded figure (the queen's trusted advisor) is the ever precious bishop. he is the counterpart to the ghostly woman in the light side army line art ^^

actually, better question!
Do old people constantly ask you to do there childrens books for them?
okay, down to the nitty gritty.
the muscles on the kings arms remind me of fist of the north star, the posing on the queen very effectively exposes her ruling cabinet... or dresser, or chest if you will.
theres not much to critique here do to the nature of the image, I would though, suggest that you try to imply muscle more than draw them.
ah thanks for the crit glad you liked it! i don't have too many people asking me to draw for them, but many who feel the need to disrupt me from drawing to have a conversation about disney *sigh*
